Member of Parliament Muhammad Karim confirmed, on Thursday, that raising the exchange rate of the dollar in the local market is an attempt by some to put pressure on the government in order to stop it from opening corruption files, stressing that hidden fingers are standing behind it.
Karim said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The continuous rise in the exchange rate of the dollar has no economic reason, but rather an attempt by some to harm the citizen’s interest and political goals in order to put pressure on the government in order to discourage it from opening corruption files.”
He added that “whenever pressure increases on corruption, the government is prevented or obstructed by attempts, including withdrawing hard currency from the market, in order to create a state of confusion for the purpose of preoccupying the government and stopping it from opening corruption files,” stressing at the same time that “the government has tools and capabilities to confront these miserable attempts.” “.
Karim pointed out that “one of the measures that the government will take is selling the dollar in the local market through the central bank and controlling the prevention of smuggling of hard currency and determining a fixed exchange rate in the next budget.”
