A member of the Al-Fateh parliamentary bloc, Representative Rafiq Al-Salhi, confirmed on Thursday that the prime minister’s election session is still unclear, but it must be decided on Saturday because there is a strong desire to close this file.
Al-Salhi told Al-Maalouma, “The session to elect a new speaker of the House of Representatives next Saturday will not be easy and predictable for who will assign the position to Al-Issawi or Al-Mashhadani, although the chances of Representative Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani are better because the majority of the parliamentarians will move towards choosing Al-Mashhadani.”
He added, “Closing the file to elect the Speaker of Parliament has become the desire of all political forces, in order for the Council to continue its work in legislating important laws, and disrupting it will have a negative impact on everyone, including the government,” suggesting that “the choice of the Speaker of Parliament will be decided during next Saturday’s session.”
It is noteworthy that the Media Department of the House of Representatives announced last Monday that the session for electing the Speaker of the next Parliament has been set.
