Minister of Defense Irfan al-Hayali said Saturday that the commander of the armed forces Haider al-Abadi announced the liberation of the district of Tal Afar in the province of Nineveh from the control of “Daash,” pointing out that the organization collapsed and is no longer able to stand against the joint forces.
Al-Hayali said in a televised interview during a visit to Tal Afar that “the morale of our heroic fighters is in the best form, and there is a retreat, withdrawal and continuous killing of the evil state,” adding that “the announcement of the liberation of Tal Afar will be soon by the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.”
Al-Hayali added that “the directives of the commander-in-chief were conveyed literally by preserving the lives of civilians and public and private property,” while stressing that “any attempts to weaken our military will not succeed in our struggle against evil.”
Al-Hayali pointed out that “he called for collapse and ended, and will not be able to stand up to the crowds advanced,” noting “we told our people in Tal Afar before the liberation operations are coming, and here we are today in Tal Afar.”
The joint operations command announced on Saturday that 90 percent of the center of Tall Afar district in Nineveh province had been controlled, while continuing military operations until the liberation of the judiciary from the grip of Da’ash.
