The Iraqi Council of Representatives decided 36 articles out of 68 in the draft federal budget law, during the past three sessions that were held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 8/9/10 June 2023.
It is scheduled to resume voting on the rest of the articles of the budget bill today, Sunday, at one o’clock in the afternoon, according to what was announced by the Media Department of the House of Representatives.
*First session
The first session (dedicated to voting on the draft federal budget law of the Republic of Iraq for the fiscal years 2023, 2024, and 2025) witnessed the 28th of the fifth electoral cycle, which was held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, voting 6 articles (first, third, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth), while Voting on the second article was postponed and the fourth was deleted.
The department said in a statement that “the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, opened the work of the 28th parliament session (the first session devoted to voting on the draft federal budget law of the Republic of Iraq for the fiscal years 2023, 2024, 2025) in the fifth electoral session, for the second legislative year in the chapter The first legislative session in the presence of 258 deputies.
She added, “Members of the House of Representatives voted on 6 articles of the draft budget law (the first, third, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth), while the vote on the second article was postponed and the fourth was deleted.
*Second session
The day before yesterday, Friday, the House of Representatives held its 29th session of the fifth electoral cycle (the second session devoted to voting on the draft federal budget law of the Republic of Iraq for the fiscal years 2023, 2024, 2025), which witnessed the vote on the text of Article Two of the budget after the amendment, which Postponed from the second session, 11 new articles, 4 articles postponed and one deleted.
The media department of the House of Representatives said in a statement, “The House of Representatives opened its 29th session, to complete the vote on the articles of the draft federal general budget law for the three fiscal years 2023 (, 2024, 2025) with the attendance of 180, who then increased the number to more than 250 deputies.”
And she stated that “during the 29th session, the members of the House of Representatives voted on the text of Article 2 of the budget after the amendment, and on Articles 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 of the draft law, while the vote was postponed on Articles 14, 15, 16 and 17 of the draft budget law.
And he continued, “The council also voted on Articles 18, 19, 20, 21, 23 and 24 of the budget, and deleted Article 22.
After that, the House of Representatives adjourned its session to five o’clock in the evening on Saturday, June 10, 2023, after its vote on the aforementioned articles.
* Third session
In the third session, which was held yesterday, Saturday, June 10, 2023, the 30th of the fifth electoral cycle, members of the House of Representatives voted on 18 new articles in the budget.
The Media Department of the House of Representatives stated in a statement that “the House of Representatives held its 30th session (the third session devoted to voting on the draft federal budget law for the Republic of Iraq for the fiscal years 2023, 2024, 2025) in the presence of 241 deputies and voted on Articles 14, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31. And 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 and 41 of the draft budget law.
And she added, “The council adjourned its session to one o’clock this afternoon, Sunday, June 11, 2023.”
