Shafaq News/ The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, confirmed on Wednesday that Iran may open the doors of its nuclear facilities to American inspectors working within the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission, if the ongoing negotiations with the United States succeed.
The Islamic Republic’s statement came after a cabinet meeting, in which it was noted that allowing inspectors from “hostile countries” would not be normal under the current circumstances, but it was not completely ruled out, saying, “If an agreement is reached, we may allow American inspectors working for the agency to visit our nuclear sites.”
He added that “his country is currently subject to the most stringent inspection regimes in the world,” noting that “although Iran’s nuclear capabilities do not exceed 3% of the total global activity, it is subject to 25% of the IAEA’s inspections, which is equivalent to being subject to oversight at a rate 12 times that of other countries.”
The Iranian official concluded his remarks by emphasizing that Iran “did everything it could to build trust,” adding, “I don’t think any other party would accept this level of pressure.”
