Concessions and subservience... the attempt to cling to power opens the door to terrorism and American interventionInformation/Baghdad…
It seems that the cost of the presidential seat in the Prime Ministership necessitates granting many concessions to internal and external parties, by getting closer to the American side and turning a blind eye to the movements of foreign forces inside Iraq and the violation of airspace, in addition to opening the door to some sectarian terrorist parties that have shed the blood of Iraqis at their hands, as well as remaining silent on the Turkish encroachment on Iraqi lands and continuing the water blockade imposed by the Erdogan administration on Iraq.
The head of the Coordinating Committee for the Popular Movement for the Belt and Road, Hussein Al-Karawi, told Al-Maalouma that “Al-Sudani sought to gain the favor of the American side and open the door for Saudi Arabia to invest after the passage of a law related to this in Parliament, in addition to other normalization projects. Opening the door to receive Rafe’ Al-Rifai and his return to the country is driven by electoral motives, even though this person was behind the sectarian incitement, as his return represents an affront to the blood of the martyrs and a disregard for their lives.” He added that “Al-Sudani is seeking, through his actions, to win a second term by getting closer to the American side and concluding secret agreements with some countries, despite the existence of a political trend that rejects the re-emergence of this figure in power again.”
For his part, Ibrahim al-Sakini, a member of the State of Law Coalition, told Al-Maalouma that “al-Sudani moved towards various parties, including the Electoral Commission, to ensure the presence of the henchmen of the defunct Baath Party on the electoral competition lists, while the people will have their say in the elections to choose their representatives in parliament and the new government, away from American pressures and dictates, even though the current prime minister worked to please the American side to ensure his continued hold on power.” He pointed out that “al-Sudani will never get a second term, especially with the lack of satisfaction with his performance in office, in addition to his move towards those normalizing relations with Israel and joining hands with the terrorist al-Julani, which makes him unacceptable in power again.”
In a related development, Sabah al-Akeeli, a member of the Rights Movement, explained to Al-Maalomah that “al-Sudani is leveraging his power to win over the Shia public, particularly in central and southern Iraq, in addition to his efforts in Sunni areas like Anbar and Mosul to gain Sunni support for a second term. It is expected that al-Sudani will approach other parties outside the coordination framework to form a majority government with the Sunnis and Kurds, especially if he secures 50 seats in Baghdad and the other provinces.” He added, “Al-Sudani is seeking to form a government independently of the coordination framework, and this has fractured the Shia political bloc and the coordination framework in particular, all in pursuit of a second term.”
