Close to him - Al-Sadr will not participate in the local elections and his dispute with Al-Maliki continuesToday, Wednesday, a source close to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, denied the existence of a leak from al-Sadr to his followers, inviting them to practice politics again.

The source, who stressed the necessity of not revealing his name in a statement to the “Al-Mutala” agency, confirmed that “the leaks circulated by the media, including the participation of the Sadrist movement in the upcoming local elections, are incorrect.”

And he indicated that “the movement’s participation in the upcoming local elections is subject to a clear and official decision by al-Sadr, and we cannot act without an order from him.”

He added, “Al-Sadr clearly refused to participate with the current parties,” noting that “the movement has reservations about the entire current political process, as a result of rampant corruption and US and foreign interference.”

He continued, “The politicians’ current steps aim at normalization and violation of Iraqi sovereignty and tendencies towards the axes,” expecting that “Al-Sadr will not participate in the local elections due to his reservations about all these observations recorded on the political blocs.”

The source said, “The movement’s participation in the local elections and the return to the political process is very costly to al-Sadr and will cause him to lose a number of his fans.”

The source concluded, “Al-Sadr’s dispute with Al-Maliki continues, and there is no reconciliation between them,” stressing that “Al-Sadr will never sit with Al-Maliki.”
