Baghdad (AIN) -The head of the Investigating Commission for accounts of the Iraq Development Fund at the Central Bank of Iraq, Ahmed al-Chalabi, revealed operations of smuggling for the US dollar via the money orders of the Central Bank abroad.
Chalabi said in a press conference at the parliament building on Monday “The CBI’s sales of dollar in 2006-2009 reached $ 2078320000 billion which is equal to 56% of the general rate. The purchased sums are doubles to what was imported by the private sector in that period.”
“The difference between the importation and the sums transferred is a money-laundry,” he added noting “Iraq’s returns from oil sector in 2006-2009 amounted to $ 370847000000.” /End/
