Blinken delivers a strongly worded message to Al-Sudani - Any escalation by the factions will be our response harsher than beforeShafaq News/ Informed Iraqi sources revealed, on Sunday, that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken conveyed a strongly worded message to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani from the US administration.

The sources told Shafaq News Agency, “Blinken conveyed to Al-Sudani a strongly worded message from the US administration regarding the intention of the armed factions loyal to Iran to escalate against US forces in Iraq and the region, as he informed the US Secretary of State that the US administration is ready to do anything to protect its forces and interests, and that any escalation by those factions will be responded to harsher than in the past.”

She added, “Al-Sudani informed the US Secretary of State that he is working hard to prevent any new escalation in Iraq between the factions and the Americans during the next stage. In return, he requested American guarantees that no new attacks will be repeated against the elements of the Popular Mobilization Authority and the factions included in this authority, in order to maintain control over the calm between the two parties.”

According to Al-Sudani’s office, the latter received a phone call Sunday, from US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during which they discussed the latest developments in regional and international situations, Iraq’s role in supporting international peace and stability, and preventing current events from continuing on the path of escalation.
