At a time when the central government is seeking in various ways to resolve the crises with the Kurdistan Regional Government, the latter is seeking the help of Washington against Iraq in order to influence the center by changing the recent decisions that ended part of the violations of the Barzani government in the oil file, port revenues, and suspicious relations with the Zionist entity.
Kurdistan directed its media agendas to try to weaken the government’s position during the upcoming visit to the United States of America to discuss many files, most notably the removal of American forces, and the file of lifting sanctions on Iraqi banks, as well as protesting some of the policies and violations that Washington is implementing inside the country.
*Influencing decisions
Speaking about this file, a member of the House of Representatives, Thaer al-Jubouri, comments on the Kurdistan Region’s efforts to try to put pressure on the central government through Sudanese’s upcoming visit to America, while stressing that Washington does not have the ability to change the decisions that were taken regarding Kurdistan.
Al-Jubouri said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “The internal political agreements will not affect the government’s tendency towards zeroing out the crises,” noting that “Kurdistan is trying to convey a message that Iraq does not have full sovereignty to apply it to the region.”
He continues, “The central government and the Federal Court continue to issue decisions in accordance with the legal and constitutional articles in many files,” noting that “most of the worsening problems with the Baghdad government are related to the region’s financial shares only.”
Al-Jubouri concludes his speech: “The decision to boycott the elections by the Kurdistan Democratic Party and its return is an attempt to put pressure on the central government,” adding that “Washington does not have the ability to change the decisions that were taken regarding Kurdistan.”
*Objections policy
Today, Saturday, political expert Sabah Al-Ukaili criticized the continued objections from the Kurdistan Regional Government to the decisions of the central government and the Federal Supreme Court, while stressing that all the decisions that were issued were to protect the rights of the Iraqi people equally.
Al-Ugaili said in a statement to the Maalouma Agency, “The region deals with the central government as an independent state from Iraq and is only connected to the file of sending money monthly,” pointing out that “the recent decisions put an end to movement outside the constitutional and legal contexts.”
He continues, “There is external support to make the region a heavy legacy for the government through continuous opposition and lack of cooperation from 2003 until now,” adding that “the continued rapprochement with the Zionist entity and the United States of America is an attempt to act in isolation from the Baghdad government.”
Al-Ugaili points out during his speech, saying: “The region is betting on weakening the government’s power because it lives on the crises and obstacles facing Baghdad,” noting that “all the decisions that were issued were to protect the rights of the Iraqi people equally.”
The regional government continues to strengthen its suspicious relations with the United States of America and the Zionist entity in order to use it to attack the decisions of the central government in Baghdad, and this is what politicians consider to be the covert agents of countries that are hostile to Iraq in many files.
