Received the President of Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani, an official invitation to visit Washington DC, to discuss the security and political situation in Iraq, and deepen the alliance between the Kurds and the United States.

The head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Falah Mustafa, said that “the President of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, will visit the United States under the pretext of an official of the U.S. administration.”
Mustafa added that “U.S. officials and they send a formal invitation to President Barzani to visit the United States, and discuss the security situation in Iraq,” noting that “the Kurds and the United States are allies.”

Comes the call after the Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki visited the United States, at the head of a delegation of ministers and deputies, in an official visit lasting five days, requesting an expansion of cooperation in accordance with the Strategic Framework Agreement, and the possibility of enhancing security and stability and the fight against terrorism.
