The Independent High Electoral Commission announced, on Sunday, that the printing of “ballot papers” in an international company outside the country has reached advanced stages of printing, indicating that it will arrive in Iraq through four airports.
The head of the Electoral Administration at the Commission, Judge Abbas Farhan Al-Fatlawi, said in an interview seen by “The Information” that “the Commission has contracted with a reputable international company to print ballot papers,” noting that “it has reached advanced stages, and will arrive in the country through four airports.” He added, “90 percent of the biometric ballot papers arrived in the country after being printed by a well-known company in this field.”
Al-Fatlawi added, “The Commission’s staff was able to register one million and 330 thousand voters after the end of the 2021 elections, in addition to nearly one million new voters, bringing the percentage of biometric registration of participants in the provincial council elections to about 16 million and 158 thousand voters.”
He continued, “The Parties Department has registered more than 300 parties that will participate in the irregular governorate council elections in the region on the eighteenth of next December, including 29 parties without an alliance and 198 parties that have joined 50 alliances, of which 39 alliances will participate in the upcoming elections.”
The head of the electoral administration explained, “The coalitions and parties submitted lists of their candidates, numbering 5,919 candidates competing for 275 seats.”
