Azm: Renewing Al-Halbousi’s mandate will pave the way for “dictatorships”

On Friday, the leader of the Azm Alliance, Ahmed al-Jubouri, ruled out the re-election of Muhammad al-Halbousi for the presidency of the House of Representatives, indicating that his election would lead to a new dictatorship.
Al-Jubouri said in a televised statement that “- the next stage needs a new political platform. The Sunnis have authority, and they have no religious reference.”
He added, “The Taqadm party is a personal project for al-Halbousi. We refuse to return to sectarian alignments, and the Azm alliance believes in the principle of partnership, unlike the Taqadm party.”
He explained, “Our main goal in the alliance is to bring a new parliament speaker, because returning Al-Halbousi to the presidency of the parliament will pave the way for a new dictatorship.”
