Two US officials and other informed sources indicated that the plan is still in its early stages but aims to guide US actions in the Middle East after the end of a war with Iran and in the final years of President Donald Trump’s term. According to the officials, preliminary work on the strategy is underway at the senior management level within the Trump administration and across various government agencies.
Reports indicate that Trump stated during private conversations that he seeks to achieve a “much bigger goal” in the Middle East after the end of a war with Iran. One potential element is strengthening coordination among America’s allies in the Middle East regarding US-backed efforts to contain post-war Iran and expanding normalization agreements with Israel.
