Member of the United Anbar Alliance, Mohammed Al-Fahdawi, ruled out the return of Mohammed Al-Halbousi to power as Speaker of Parliament again, noting that an attempt to reinstate him had been proposed previously and failed and would not happen again.
Al-Fahdawi told Al-Maalouma, “Al-Halbousi’s return to the Speaker of Parliament represents a complex and difficult process, and it is unlikely that this option will be proposed again, after the Progress Party worked to raise the issue and it was rejected by the Sunni blocs.”
He added, “The issue of deciding the Speaker of Parliament after the parliamentary elections will be returned to the Sunni House, as the decision will be made through consensus between the blocs representing the Sunni component, as the candidate who will be nominated for the Speaker of Parliament will be chosen through consensus.”
He explained that “Al-Halbousi’s chances of reaching the Speaker of Parliament again have become slim, after he was previously rejected for this position by the Sunni House blocs.”
