A member of the United Anbar Alliance, Muhammad Al-Fahdawi, confirmed on Monday that the Sunni political forces had not reached an agreement on a specific personality for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Al-Fahdawi told Al-Maalouma, “The sacked Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, is suffering from a state of extreme despair, due to the withdrawal of the coordination framework supporting his candidate, Shaalan Al-Karim, after the scandal of his glorification of the previous regime.”
He added, “The crisis of not reaching an agreement between the Sunni blocs on a single person to occupy the position of presidency of the House of Representatives is related to the complex that Al-Halbousi feels.”
He pointed out that “Al-Halbousi fears that a figure from Anbar Governorate will obtain the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives, which will cause him to lose his imaginary leadership.”
The Federal Supreme Court had decided, earlier, to terminate the membership of the ousted Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, based on a forgery lawsuit filed by Representative Laith al-Dulaimi.
