The leader of the United Anbar Alliance, Dhari Al-Dulaimi, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the person expelled from the presidency of the House of Representatives continues to beg for the sympathy of the judiciary and the government in the hope of returning to Parliament.
Al-Dulaimi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “The Speaker of Parliament dismissed on fraud charges, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, continues to beg before the Supreme Judicial Council, the Supreme Federal Court, the government, and a number of politicians, hoping to return to the presidency again.”
He added, “Al-Halbousi became more apprehensive after the formation of a Sunni political alliance headed by Khamis Al-Khanjar in order to win the presidency in cooperation with the deposed rivals.”
Al-Dulaimi pointed out that “Al-Halbousi’s recent movements towards the Iraqi judiciary are aimed at arousing sympathy for fear of prosecution regarding the corruption and forgery files that ousted his membership in Parliament.”
Throughout the period of Muhammad al-Halbousi’s presidency, the House of Representatives witnessed great weakness that harmed the prestige of the legislative authority, which became unable to pass important laws and legislation that affect the lives of citizens.
The Federal Supreme Court had decided, earlier, to terminate the membership of the ousted Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, based on a forgery lawsuit filed by Representative Laith al-Dulaimi.
