An Iraqi government delegation, headed by Finance Minister Taif Sami and Central Bank Governor Ali Al-Alaq, participated in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., to discuss economic challenges and support reform programs. The meetings included discussions with high-level officials on developing infrastructure and energy projects, maximizing revenues, and supporting digitization. They also discussed investment barriers and private sector support.
The World Bank’s portfolio of projects in Iraq was also discussed, particularly the railway project, and plans to support education, health, transportation, and renewable energy projects.
The International Monetary Fund affirmed its commitment to supporting Iraq in implementing economic reforms, enhancing financial stability, and improving institutional performance.
