Shafaq News/ Dhi Qar Oil Company announced on Friday an emergency plan to increase crude and gas production to 70,000 barrels per day, and gas production to 30 million standard cubic feet.
The company stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that its director, Saeed Zaghir Shalaqa, and the head of Dhi Qar Provincial Council, Izzat Awda Al-Nashi, discussed prospects for joint cooperation between the company and the local government, and enhancing integration in oil and investment projects.
During the meeting, the General Manager presented the company’s short-term plan, which aims to raise production levels in its oil fields by investing in human, engineering, and technical capabilities to achieve a qualitative shift in the oil industry.
According to the statement, Shalaqa confirmed that senior management has developed an emergency plan to increase production capacity in the Nasiriyah oil field to 70,000 barrels per day, which will positively impact gas production, which will reach 30 million standard cubic feet, after adding 10 million new standard cubic feet.
He pointed to the progress of the associated gas investment project in the Gharraf and Nasiriyah fields, which is being implemented under a major ministerial contract. The first phase is scheduled to launch with production of 67 million standard cubic feet, reaching 200 million standard cubic feet by the end of 2027.
He pointed out that the Dhi Qar Oil Company continues to provide support to the governorate, enhancing investment and economic opportunities and revitalizing local markets by meeting the needs of the oil industry.
Shalaka stressed the importance of joint cooperation with the local government to ensure comprehensive services for the governorate’s residents.
For his part, the Provincial Council Chairman affirmed the Council’s support for the company’s plans to achieve its strategic vision and contribute to the sustainable development of Dhi Qar.
