{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The economist Basem Jamil Antoine revealed, today, Saturday, the reasons for the high exchange rate of the dollar in Iraq.
Antoine told {Euphrates News}, “Because of the white paper (the reform paper put forward by the government) and the tendency to reduce the value of the dinar, there has been a great demand for the dollar and created a kind of terror as we saw the rise in the price of gold and real estate as well.”
He added: “There is a supply and demand, and the supply has stopped two days ago, and the central bank governor’s statement also when he said that the central bank’s balance of the dollar fell due to the great demand for the dollar and the failure to deposit the revenues of the Ministry of Oil and Finance, and a simple permit that creates such things, and the pursuers exploit such things. Chance”.
And that “the poor classes are the most affected by this matter, because this rise causes a kind of economic paralysis, as there is no agriculture, industry and tourism, and all the country’s livelihood is imported.”
The exchange rate of the dollar increased today and over the past few days, reaching 127,750 per hundred dollars today.
