An economist indicates the absence of the private sector in the 2024 budget

On Wednesday, economist Bassem Antoun pointed out the absence of private sector support in the federal general budget for the current year 2024.
Antoine told Maalouma, “Despite the continuing economic demands regarding the allocation of financial sums to stimulate the private sector in accordance with programs set by the government to stimulate the sector’s work, we find a clear absence of support for this important sector in the general budget.”
He added, “Activating and revitalizing the private sector has positive economic returns for the state in general through the production of goods and commodities that are imported in hard currency by the government, as well as employing millions of unemployed people.”
Antoine called on the government to “have a representative of the private sector present during the preparation of the annual public budgets.”
