Economic expert Dr. Safwan Qusai confirmed, on Sunday, the decrease in the value of the general budget deficit with the possibility of covering it from the rounded financial surplus from the past years and the past months of the current year.
Qusay told Al-Maalouma, “The deficit in the budget is a (book) deficit, so that the government will not be able to spend about 200 trillion during only 7 months or less of this period, as approving the budget is followed by instructions for its implementation.”
He added, “The investment budget amounts to 50 trillion, and 5 months have passed from the fiscal year, and therefore the required figures are for 12 months, which confirms the decrease in the deficit that can be covered from the rounded surplus of 23 trillion.”
And he indicated that “spending has been delayed from January 1 to June 1, and this decrease can contribute to reducing the deficit, and there are financial savings achieved during the past five months of this year, especially since the amounts were spent at a rate of 1/12 during this period.”
