America resumes importing Iraqi oil in limited quantities

The United States resumed importing crude oil from Iraq last week, after imports had stopped the previous week, but the quantities remained limited compared to its import levels from major suppliers.
Data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, reviewed by Shafaq News Agency, showed that “the average U.S. imports of crude oil last week from ten major countries averaged 4.949 million barrels per day, down 1.488 thousand barrels per day from the previous week, which averaged 6.437 million barrels per day.”
She added that America’s imports of Iraqi crude reached an average of 51,000 barrels per day, up from the previous week, in which America did not import any quantity of Iraqi crude oil.
The administration noted that “most of America’s oil revenues last week came from Canada at a rate of 3.252 million barrels per day, followed by Venezuela at a rate of 583,000 barrels per day, Brazil at an average of 319,000 barrels, and Mexico at a rate of 238,000 barrels per day.”
According to the table, “US crude oil imports averaged 171,000 barrels per day from Guyana, 126,000 barrels per day from Saudi Arabia, 108,000 barrels per day from Argentina, 72,000 barrels per day from Colombia, and 29,000 barrels per day from Nigeria.”
America imports most of its crude oil and derivatives from these ten major countries. The United States’ daily consumption of oil is estimated at about 20 million barrels, making it the world’s largest consumer of oil.
