A member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Ali Al-Zubaidi, explained that there is a possibility to dismiss Al-Halbousi without considering this act as sectarian and without any problems, pointing to the importance of dismissal according to legal articles to avoid causing any uproar that may result from this matter.
Al-Zubaidi told Al-Maalouma, “Al-Halbousi is not fit to continue heading Parliament, especially since most of the parties within the Sunni house reject the presence of this figure at the head of the legislative authority.”
He added, “Most of the Shiite parties support the Sunni component in refusing to keep al-Halbousi as Speaker of Parliament, but at the same time there is a fear that the issue will be considered sectarian, which necessitates his dismissal according to clear legal articles in order to avoid sectarianism and the sensitivity that may arise in this matter.”
And he indicated that “there is a strong desire to remove al-Halbousi from power, especially since his positions were not satisfactory to the Iraqis, and he worked to disrupt the work of the council throughout the last period.”
