Al-Zubaidi - Al-Halbousi is accused of carrying out foreign conspiracies to end the role of the Faw portInformation/Exclusive:
Ali al-Zubaidi, a member of the “We Build” coalition, warned on Tuesday of regional moves aimed at undermining Iraq’s maritime role through a Gulf plan to isolate it by water. He pointed to ongoing attempts to end the Grand Faw Port project and transfer its economic importance to Kuwait’s Mubarak Port.

Al-Zubaidi told Al-Maalouma, “There is a foreign will working in coordination with internal political parties to weaken Iraq economically by disrupting strategic projects such as the Faw Port.” He explained that “this plan, if successful, will deprive Iraq of its pivotal maritime role and make it dependent on neighboring ports.”

He added, “Reliable information indicates the involvement of prominent political figures in this scheme, including former Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi, who faces accusations of playing a role in promoting foreign agendas aimed at excluding Iraq from the regional maritime transport map.”

Al-Zubaidi pointed out that “the port of Faw constitutes a key pillar in the project of linking trade between Asia and Europe, and any attack on it directly affects Iraq’s economic and sovereign security,” calling for “an urgent and transparent government investigation into these attempts, and a unified national stance to thwart the Gulf plan.”

Earlier, political analyst Ibrahim Al-Sarraj accused Kuwait of implementing a naval plot against Iraq with American support, with the aim of ending the Grand Faw Port project.
