On Sunday, Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi oversaw the handover ceremony between the new Central Bank Governor, Nizar Nasser Hussein, and the former governor, Ali Mohsen al-Alaq .
The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that “Al-Zidi stressed the importance of proceeding with banking reform programs, which contribute to achieving financial stability and provide a suitable economic and investment environment to promote development. He also stressed the need to keep pace with the digital transformation that the world is witnessing and to apply international standards in implementing financial policies.”
Al-Zaydi praised the efforts made by Al-Alaq during his tenure and directed that he be assigned the duties of Advisor to the Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, while stressing the importance of completing the strategic programs that enhance institutional performance and support financial and banking stability in Iraq .
