Political analyst Qasim al-Tamimi believes that Iraq has the option of expelling US forces from its territory due to their violation of the Strategic Framework Agreement and their failure to protect Iraqi airspace, given that Iraq is responsible for protecting its airspace from any intrusion.
Al-Tamimi told Al-Maalouma, “Iran holds the initiative, has control over the military aspect, and is leading the battle against the Zionist entity and its allies with complete authority, without the need for intervention from other allies.”
He added, “Iraq does not possess the means to defend itself against air incursions, as its air defense systems are not up to the required standard. Therefore, Iraq must resort to the UN Security Council to curb the violations.”
He explained that “the Strategic Framework Agreement is supposed to be implemented with the American side, but this is very difficult, especially since the American side stands with the Zionist enemy, in addition to being a party to this war, despite the fact that the agreement obligates it to protect Iraqi airspace, and it is possible for Iraq to resort to this clause if the American side refuses to implement the terms of the agreement and requests the withdrawal of American forces.”
