Al-Sudani - The Iraqi dinar will rise against the US dollar in the next few weeksToday, Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani indicated that the value of the Iraqi dinar will rise against the US dollar during the next few weeks.

Al-Sudani said, in press statements, followed by NRT Arabia, that: “The dinar will rise against the dollar in the next few weeks,” explaining that “oil exports from the Kurdistan region will resume this week, and oil buyers will sign a contract with SOMO today.”

He added, “Only technical issues are remaining to resume oil exports from the Kurdistan region this week,” noting that “SOMO will sign a contract with oil buyers today, and oil exports will resume this week.”

Al-Sudani said, “A letter will be sent to the Turkish government to resume oil exports,” stressing that “providing the salaries of the Kurdistan Regional Government is the duty of the Iraqi government and we are committed to it.”

Last March, the International Arbitration Court, based in the French capital, Paris, issued a decision stating that it was illegal for Turkey to export Kurdistan Region’s oil through the port of Ceyhan without referring to the federal government in Baghdad, and the International Court imposed large financial compensation on Turkey in favor of Iraq. .

On (April 4, 2023) in Baghdad, an agreement was signed to resume the export of Kurdistan Region’s oil, in the presence of the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani.

After signing the agreement, Al-Sudani said, “Stopping oil exports causes severe damage to the total oil revenues for Iraq,” noting that the agreement reached to resume oil exports confirms Erbil and Baghdad’s desire to “face all problems and obstacles.”

Al-Sudani stressed that the agreement “will pave the way for the passage of the budget law and its provisions, which are also the outcome of a dialogue between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government that dealt with all issues, including the oil and gas file.”

And estimated the volume of losses from stopping the export of oil from the Kurdistan Region during the past three weeks exceeded 500 million dollars.
