Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed, on Saturday (May 31, 2025), the importance of deepening relations with the United States of America in various fields, stressing the need to continue bilateral dialogue based on mutual respect, in a way that strengthens the strategic partnership between the two countries.
This came during his reception of Senator Jacky Rosen, a member of the Armed Services Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee in the US Congress, and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq.
The Prime Minister’s media office said in a statement received by Baghdad Today that “the meeting discussed overall Iraqi-American relations and ways to strengthen them in a way that serves common interests, advances Iraq’s economic recovery, and affirms regional stability.”
The statement added that “Al-Sudani pointed to the importance of building a comprehensive vision for Iraq’s future in light of the economic and developmental transformation the country is witnessing, affirming the government’s commitment to Iraq’s sovereignty and shared values with the United States.”
For her part, Senator Rosen, according to the statement, expressed her country’s “eagerness to build sustainable relations with Iraq,” praising “the progress being witnessed in Baghdad and other cities, and the Iraqi government’s ability to avoid regional conflicts, which reinforces Iraq’s growing pivotal role in the region.”
