Member of Parliament, Muhammad Saadoun al-Sudani, revealed today, Monday, the reason for renewing the commander of the NATO mission in Iraq, while stressing that America wants one thing and the government is continuing to achieve something else.
Al-Sudani said in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, “The current government deals with all people and names in a way that serves the interests of Iraq, and not in a way that serves those parties.”
He added, “America is considering, in one way or another, remaining in control of Iraq’s political future by renewing the commander of the NATO mission, or by extending the state of emergency.”
The member of the House of Representatives stated, “Iraq, under the shadow of this government, has begun extensive reconstruction campaigns and reforms in the administrative apparatus, and dealing with NATO comes from this standpoint and on foundations and constants that serve Iraq, and in a manner that does not allow others to interfere in internal affairs.”
And Al-Sudani said, “Iraq is greater than all the American plans,” noting that “Washington wants something through these policies, and the government is moving forward with something else that serves Iraq.”
Yesterday, Sunday, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, met the new commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) mission in Iraq, Jose Antonio, to discuss paths of cooperation between Iraq and NATO countries, in the fields of advising and training the Iraqi security forces.
