Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed on Wednesday the importance of Mosul Airport in enhancing economic and development opportunities in Nineveh, noting that the airport will be fully operational within two months.
The Prime Minister’s media office said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency that “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani inaugurated Mosul International Airport after its rehabilitation and development, in the presence of the Ministers of Defense, Transport, and Culture, the Governor of Nineveh and its Chairman of the Council, and a number of representatives from the province.”
According to the statement, the Prime Minister “toured the airport’s departments, facilities, reception and departure halls, and viewed the control tower,” appreciating “the efforts of the workers and the implementing company. He also commended the efforts made by Nineveh Governorate to complete this important edifice.”
He explained that “Mosul Airport will be fully operational within two months, after selecting a specialized company for this matter, and it will be an additional link between Mosul and the rest of the cities of Iraq and the region,” stressing “work to enhance economic and development opportunities for Nineveh Governorate by operating flights to and from the airport.”
The statement added, “Mosul International Airport is an important vital gateway that increases integration in air transport between Iraqi airports and airports in the region and the world, as part of a comprehensive development plan that the government has launched in its program.”
