Al-Sudani from Al-Muthanna - Iraq today is the object of the worlds respectPrime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said that his government adopted a balanced policy to keep Iraq away from wars and conflicts in the region, and was able to preserve the country’s security and stability. He stressed that Iraq today is respected and appreciated by all countries in the region and the world for its role in promoting regional and international stability.

This came in a statement by Al-Sudani during his visit yesterday, Wednesday, to Al-Muthanna Governorate, where he inaugurated a number of vital and service projects in transportation and securing oil derivatives, and met with tribal sheikhs, dignitaries and academic elites in the governorate, which is considered the cradle from which the immortal “Twenty Revolution” was launched under the leadership of Sheikh Shaalan Abu Al-Joun, and which was the basis for the establishment of the modern Iraqi state.

oil depot

The Prime Minister inaugurated the new Samawah warehouse for oil products and derivatives with a storage capacity of 75,000 m3.

Al-Sudani congratulated the people of Al-Muthanna on the completion of this important project, which is one of the oldest stalled projects inherited from previous governments, stressing that “addressing the issue of stalled projects has been and still is a priority for the government in order to overcome their negative repercussions on the overall situation, especially those with service, development and economic dimensions.”

He explained that “the completion of this project puts Al-Muthanna Governorate in a good position in terms of providing oil derivatives in a safe manner, and it will also provide smooth, easy and continuous work at the Samawah refinery, which produces (30) thousand barrels per day, and will have a major role in transporting and distributing oil products.”

The Prime Minister affirmed, “The government’s interest in the process of developing production, refining and refineries, and establishing the infrastructure related to the pipelines of the transport network, tanks and warehouses, many of whose projects have been completed in various governorates and the rest are under completion.”

He explained that “the oil situation in Muthanna qualifies it to establish an independent company to oversee all oil activities in it, and that adding a refining capacity to the Samawah refinery of around (70) thousand barrels per day is within the government’s plan to raise the refining capacity of refineries in all governorates,” noting that “the project will have a positive impact on various economic activities in Muthanna, which has natural resources and investment opportunities that qualify it to be an incubator for projects in all sectors.”

It is worth mentioning that the warehouse includes (19) tanks for various types and capacities of petroleum derivatives, and contains bridge scales and loading yards. The project will serve modern factories and plants in the governorate, such as existing cement factories or factories under construction, food factories, chemical and oxidized asphalt factories. It will also reduce the process of transporting derivatives by tankers, which will preserve the road network and reduce accidents, in addition to the high availability of derivatives.

vital road

The Prime Minister launched the executive work for the rehabilitation project of the Samawah (Al-Malha) road – Al-Salman district – Al-Jumaimah border crossing – Saudi border within Al-Muthanna Governorate, with a length of 219 km round trip, in the presence of the governor.

Al-Sudani stressed that “the road is one of the most important projects in the governorate, and represents an important economic artery for Al-Muthanna and the rest of the governorates with the neighboring Saudi Arabia, as it will work to increase and facilitate the movement of travelers, pilgrims and Umrah performers, and increase trade exchange between the two brotherly countries, in addition to being an important addition to the road network at the local and regional level, and establishes a broader partnership and trade exchange, which will reflect positively on the development reality of the governorate.”

He explained that “this road cuts through the Samawah desert, which contributes to creating an attractive environment for investments, especially in the fields of agriculture, industry and mining,” pointing to “the abundance of natural resources and the escalating development movement that Al-Muthanna is characterized by,” and stressed “the role of the governor of Al-Muthanna in following up on the stages of completing the project, and putting in place solutions to the conflicts that may face implementation.”

He explained that “the government has turned to all governorates, based on a vision and methodology of work aimed at improving the reality of infrastructure services, by harnessing service projects towards driving development, according to the specific resources of each governorate and the opportunities available in it.”

It is worth mentioning that the project will be implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and in accordance with the specifications prepared by specialists, with a length of 219 km with two lanes going and returning, with 6 stations to stop on both sides of the road.
