Today, Friday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani discussed with the Commander of the Joint Forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Admiral Stuart Munch, a number of issues related to logistical support for the NATO mission operating in Iraq, after the withdrawal of the international coalition to fight ISIS.

Al-Sudani’s office said in a statement, a copy of which was received by 964 Network :

Today, Friday, the Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, received the Commander of the Joint Forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Admiral Stuart Munch, on the sidelines of his sovereignty’s participation in the Munich Security Conference 2024.

The meeting witnessed a review of the overall security situation in the region, and cooperation between the NATO mission and the Iraqi security authorities, especially in the field of training and intelligence coordination. They also discussed a number of issues related to logistical support for the NATO mission operating in Iraq, after the withdrawal of the international coalition to fight ISIS. The Netherlands will assume leadership of the NATO mission next May.

The Prime Minister praised the level of cooperation between the Iraqi Armed Forces and NATO, and coordination in enhancing regional and international security and stability.

For his part, Admiral Munch expressed his appreciation for the facilities and support provided by the government to the NATO mission operating in Iraq.
