A higher committee approved, on Monday, government recommendations regarding the re-evaluation and formation of the boards of directors of government banks.
The Prime Minister’s Office stated in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency that “Al-Sudani chaired a meeting of the higher committee responsible for re-evaluation and formation of the boards of directors of government banks and the Central Bank of Iraq.”
He added that “the meeting approved a set of recommendations, and discussions took place on the topics included in the committee’s agenda, which focused on evaluating the performance of the boards of directors of government banks and the Central Bank, as part of reform efforts in the banking and financial sector, and emphasizing the effectiveness of boards of directors, as they constitute a fundamental pillar in the financial and banking reform process.
” Al-Sudani stressed “the importance of boards of directors taking the lead in developing strategies and visions that guide the work of government banks, and enhancing the principle of transparency and accountability within them, and the need for these boards to evaluate the challenges and financial risks facing banks, in addition to the importance of strengthening relations with various government agencies and the private sector, which contributes to the implementation of financial and development policies that support the local economy.”
