Al-Salhi - The Commission did not check the Kirkuk voter registry and the 260000 outsiders who participated in the electionsShafaq News/ Turkmen MP Arshad Al-Salhi said on Monday that 260,000 voters who were not from Kirkuk participated in the provincial council elections, stressing that the Independent High Electoral Commission conducted the Kirkuk elections without checking the voter registry.

Al-Salhi told Shafaq News Agency, “The Turkmen regions in Kirkuk witnessed a very widespread failure of fingerprints for voters in the Turkmen regions, and we suffer from the incompleteness of the voter register.”

He added, “I met with the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and the Chairman of the Supreme Committee supervising the audit of voter records. They explained that they were not able to audit the voter registry and said that we will go to the Kirkuk Provincial Council elections without auditing the voter registry.”

He added, “More than 260,000 people participated in the Kirkuk Provincial Council elections even though they are not residents of Kirkuk, according to a document from the Ministry of Commerce that confirmed the existence of a discrepancy between the ration cards and the civil status identities of these people. Therefore, we confirm that relying on the database according to the ration card is wrong.” The unified card must be used.”

Al-Salhi stated, “The Turkmen will ally with the party that will guarantee the rights of their constituents, and at the same time, Kirkuk cannot bear administration from one or two parties, and the administration must be joint, and this was our political and legal agreement that administrative positions would be distributed fairly without regard to the results of the elections,” indicating that “Things are not clear yet to begin political agreements following the provincial council elections.”

Regarding the participation of Turkmen in casting their votes, Al-Salhi explained that “Turkmen participation in the elections was good, at about 60%.”
