Services Committee member Baqir Al-Saadi confirmed on Thursday that the delay in approving the general budget will negatively impact the implementation of service projects and vital projects in several sectors.
Al-Saadi told Al-Maalouma that “the Speaker of Parliament has not fulfilled his legislative role to the required level, and that the continued interruption of parliamentary sessions will lead to the disruption of many sectors, most notably the service sector.” He pointed out that “the delay in approving the budget hinders the completion of infrastructure projects, including the construction of hospitals, schools, and road networks, which require financial allocations to resume them.”
Al-Saadi called on the parliament’s leadership to expedite the holding of sessions and voting on the budget, to avoid further delays that could negatively impact citizens’ lives and the level of services provided to them.
Earlier, MP Mahmoud Al-Ziyadi held the House of Representatives’ presidency responsible for disrupting parliamentary sessions and delaying the approval of important laws, noting that the presidency had not fulfilled its role in managing the sessions properly.
