The Nujaba Movement in Iraq confirmed its support for the decision of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to demand the closure of the American embassy in Baghdad, while stressing the removal of all foreign forces from Iraq.
A member of the movement’s political bureau, Haider Al-Lami, said in an exclusive interview with Al-Mutala’ Agency, “The American embassy in Baghdad, since 2003, has been planning to restructure Iraq and tear apart its social fabric. Therefore, Al-Sadr’s steps to close it are supported by the movement in this as long as the matter is related to the interest of the movement.” Country”.
Al-Lami added, “Ain al-Assad base and other bases are no more dangerous than the embassy in Baghdad, because they include members of the CIA and the Israeli Mossad, and their presence is more dangerous than the presence of combat forces.”
He pointed out that “this embassy does not apply to the terms of the agreement in Vienna, in addition to being a military barracks far from diplomatic work,” pointing out that “all the American bases located on Iraqi territory do not carry any legal basis that regulates their presence.”
He stressed that “no party can grant legitimacy to the establishment of American bases on Iraqi soil, especially after the House of Representatives’ decision to remove all foreign forces from the country.”
