MP Haider Al-Mutairi expressed his regret on Monday over the “shameful” performance of the House of Representatives, stressing that the mismanagement of the Parliament’s presidency has deprived the legislative institution of its essential role.
Al-Mutairi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The current parliament will not achieve any noteworthy accomplishments due to the ongoing obstruction and administrative chaos surrounding its work,” indicating that “the weak performance has negatively impacted its oversight and legislative role.”
He added that “the continuation of this approach means the loss of public confidence in the legislative institution, which threatens the future of the entire political process.”
Observers believe that the Parliament’s presidency bears direct responsibility for the decline in the Council’s performance, warning that the continuation of this path may deprive the legislative institution of its true role, and make it a formal tool unable to meet the aspirations of the people.
