Shafaq News/ Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, said today, Sunday, that the decision to extend the legislative term came to complete a number of “important” laws, most notably the budget schedules for this year, and voting on a Speaker of Parliament.
This came in a speech during the first tribal forum under the slogan (Integration of national responsibility between parliamentary legislation and tribal laws), in the presence of a number of representatives, sheikhs and notables of Iraqi tribes.
Al-Mandalawi said in his speech, “The latest decision to extend the legislative term came to complete a number of important laws, most notably (the federal general budget schedules for 2024), as well as the continuation of the supervisory role in support of the government program, and the continuation of tireless efforts to return the representation of our Sunni Arab brothers in the presidency.” The Council today before tomorrow by intensifying dialogues with all political parties.”
He stressed that the House of Representatives, with the enactment of a special law for the Iraqi tribes, guarantees their status and ensures the organization of their affairs, calling for the necessity of cooperating with the government and supporting it in developing the work of the competent executive authorities in the Ministry of Interior and others in a way that ensures the preservation of the status of the tribes and enables them to perform their national and societal roles, and in a way that ensures the activation of Their role as an essential and supportive partner in the rule and implementation of the law.
The House of Representatives said in a statement, announced on Thursday, the tenth of May, that “based on Article 58 of the Constitution, the Presidency of the House of Representatives decided to extend the first legislative term of the third legislative year, the fifth electoral session, for a period of thirty days.”
