Independent MP Raed al-Maliki confirmed the failure of the government and the central bank to control the dollar against the Iraqi dinar.
Al-Maliki said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “The government failed to control the dollar exchange rate during the last period,” pointing out that “this matter prompts us to raise the questioning file of the governor of the Central Bank within the House of Representatives and any other party related to the dollar file.”
He added, “We have recently noticed an unjustified rise in the dollar exchange rate,” noting that “this rise negatively affects the livelihood of the Iraqi citizen.”
Al-Maliki pointed out that “the Central Bank’s policy towards the dollar has not succeeded so far.”
A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Muhammad Nouri, had previously confirmed the failure of the Central Bank to control the exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar.
