Independent politician Abbas al-Maliki ruled out the possibility of the political process getting bogged down in a maze regarding the formation of the new government in Iraq, noting that all political parties are striving to move forward with forming the government and avoid divisions.
Al-Maliki told Al-Maalouma, “Things will proceed without the talk circulating in the political arena about the possibility of getting bogged down in a maze regarding the formation of the new government or delaying its birth.”
He added that “all parties from the various components will not stand in the way of forming the new government, as everyone seeks to expedite the birth of this government, regardless of any differences in visions between the political parties.”
He explained that “the participants in the electoral process, including Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds, are in agreement on proceeding with the political process and forming the new government, and on not dragging Iraq into political tensions or divisions. Despite some disagreements, these will not reach the point of obstructing the political process.”
