The economist, Dr. Nasser Al-Kinani, confirmed that the government can authorize the ministries of commerce and health to import goods, foodstuffs, and medicines in order to sell them to merchants and owners of treasures in dinars, and to ensure that the demand for the dollar does not increase, and thus reduce its value.
Al-Kinani told Al-Maalouma, that “the exchange rate of the dollar is in dire need of quick and urgent measures from the government and the competent authorities in order to stop the increasing rise, as the exchange rate, and in the event that it is not treated, will reach within the next six months to 300,000 dinars for every 100 dollars.” .
He added, “The government must take a decision as soon as possible, by authorizing the Ministry of Commerce and its companies to import the required goods in the market with the aim of selling them to the merchant and thus ensuring that the demand for currency does not increase, in addition to instructing the Ministry of Health to import medicines to distribute them to pharmacies in a way that ensures that storekeepers do not resort to Import and request the dollar in order to complete its work.
And that “the aforementioned ministries, and in the event that they import, they will buy goods from abroad at the official price of the dollar, in addition to the fact that they will not need to open bank credits and bypass the issue of transportation and its wages, which allows the merchant to easily obtain the goods in Iraqi dinars and avoid opening credit and buying dollars.”
