Today, Sunday, the head of the organizing body of the popular movement, Hussein Ali Al-Karaawi, accused the Taqadum Party of obstructing the session of the House of Representatives dedicated to electing a new Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Al-Karaawi told Al-Maalouma, “The Taqadum Party has placed obstacles to holding the third round to choose the Speaker of the House of Representatives, indicating that Al-Halbousi is clinging to the presidential seat through his reliance on the culture of ‘either survival or perish’.”
He added that “Taqaddum is trying to achieve the ambition of Al-Halbousi and those who stand behind him and those who stand behind him.” Get him to the presidential seat, pointing out that Al-Halbousi is ready to burn Iraq in order to cling to the presidential seat.
The House of Representatives voted on the candidates for presidency of the House of Representatives, but no candidate obtained the legal percentage (half plus one), that is, 166 votes, to hold this position.
The candidate of the Azm and Al-Sayyada blocs, Salem Al-Issawi, received 158 votes, and the candidate of the Taqadum Party, which is headed by the dismissed Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, received 137 votes.
Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, refused to present more than one candidate in the third round to elect the Speaker of Parliament.
