Al-Kadhimi rules out foreign influence on the coordination framework for selecting the prime ministerInformation/Baghdad…
MP Mu’in al-Kadhimi, from the Badr Bloc, dismissed the notion that the coordination framework would be affected by foreign interference in the selection of the next prime minister, noting that the decision regarding the position is Iraqi and the American side will deal with the reality on the ground.
Al-Kadhimi told Al-Ma’louma, “The coordination framework has not been affected by any external pressures to decide on the prime minister for the next phase, and consultations are still ongoing to finalize the position.”
He added, “There are differences of opinion within the coordination framework regarding the prime minister position, and these differences pertain to the political blocs that make up the framework. Foreign pressures have no bearing on the options presented at the negotiating table.”
He explained that “all candidates can safeguard Iraq’s interests, as well as the interests of other countries that feel they have a stake in the country’s stability. The United States deals with the reality on the ground wherever it may be, and there is no need for the decision to be linked to international factors.”
