A leader in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ahmed Al-Harki, confirmed on Monday that reaching solutions to the outstanding differences between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government is in the interest of both parties, stressing that this could rebuild trust and pave the way for the legislation of an oil and gas law on a transparent basis.
Al-Harki said in a statement to Al-Maalouma News Agency, “Everyone now realizes, whether in Baghdad or Erbil, that resolving chronic differences is the best option,” adding that “the expected agreements will establish a relationship based on rights, duties, and transparency.”
He pointed out that “previous experiences have proven that temporary solutions do not provide radical solutions, but a temporary agreement is better than the absence of understanding, especially in light of the delay in disbursing salaries of the region’s employees for more than two months.”
