Al-Halbousi ends his vacation and Parliament may hold a Thursday or Saturday sessionShafaq News/ Parliament Speaker, Muhammad al-Halbousi announced, on Wednesday, the end of his leave, which he granted himself 15 days ago.

Al-Halbousi’s office said, in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, “The Speaker of Parliament has completed his leave and will exercise his duties as of Saturday, April 15.”

On Thursday (March 30, 2023), Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi granted himself a regular leave for a period of 15 days, starting from April 3, and authorized the First Deputy to manage the Parliament’s sessions, and to authorize the First Deputy and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament to follow up on the work of the parliamentary committees during the vacation period.

For his part, independent MP Hadi al-Salami told Shafaq News agency, “The Presidency of the House of Representatives will set a date for resuming parliament sessions and holding a new session within the next 24 hours.”

He explained that “the session will witness the reading of a number of laws and a discussion of the budget law, and it is likely that it will be held on Thursday evening or next Saturday.”
