The head of the State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, revealed on Friday that Iraq has informed the US administration that Baghdad seeks to implement peace in the region and refuses to be a party to any war or conflict in the Middle East.
In his speech marking the first of Muharram, Al-Hakim said, “Iraq has repeatedly informed the US administration that it is a sovereign country seeking to implement peace in the region, does not want to be a party to any war or conflict, and is not a source of threat to anyone.”
He added that Iraq “does not want to be dictated to by anyone or any party that contradicts its national will, the interests of its people, and its own interests.”
Regarding the elections scheduled for November 11, Al-Hakim, head of the Hikma Movement, called on Iraqi youth to “actively and broadly participate in the elections,” stressing that Iraq “is in dire need of them.”
Al-Hakim urged people not to heed the “voices of the frustrated,” stressing that broad participation is the only way to choose their representatives and punish those who misjudge their interests.
