Political analyst Muhammad Ali al-Hakim clarified a set of options that can be resorted to in order to resolve the current political impasse and go towards forming the new government.
Al-Hakim told Al-Maalouma, “The first option is related to the alliance with the coordination framework to form a consensus government to share power that will last for one year only, and if it fails, the majority government that Al-Sadr wants is being formed, but the latter did not accept the formation of a consensus government with the framework at all.” .
He added, “The second option is to dissolve parliament and call for new elections, while the third option is to keep the situation as it is. However, any attempts by al-Sadr or his allies to introduce governmental or legislative changes would alter the current balance of power.” “It will be dealt with by all available means.”
