MP Zuhair Al-Fatlawi stressed on Monday that Khor Abdullah is not just a waterway, but rather represents an Iraqi privacy and sovereignty that affects the country’s interests and the future of coming generations.
Al-Fatlawi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “Khor Abdullah is of great importance as it overlooks the ports of Basra towards the Arabian Gulf, and it is an integral part of Iraq’s sovereignty, and this is something that no two people disagree on.” He pointed out that “its importance goes beyond being a waterway to become a symbol of national sovereignty.”
He added that “there are attempts by some parties to discourage the efforts of the representatives and weaken their national and historical position by passing agreements that may threaten this waterway,” stressing that “Khor Abdullah will remain Iraqi, and that any attempt to circumvent this issue will not succeed in the presence of a strong national will.”
