A member of the Al-Fatah Alliance, Mahmoud Al-Hayani, confirmed today, Saturday, that the decision to end the mission of the United Nations mission in Iraq is a step in the right direction, adding that ending its presence will limit the many interferences in the country’s internal affairs.
Al-Hayani said in a statement to the Al-Ma’louma Agency, “The request to stop its presence in the country will limit illegal meetings with most politicians,” noting that “this step is the beginning of ending the American presence and the hegemony imposed by the Security Council on Iraq.”
He continued, “The interventions with which the mission stormed the political process to impose the will and chart the path and plans that the government will have before its formation,” pointing out that “most of the briefings presented about Iraq in the Security Council are not true and have nothing to do with prevention.”
Al-Hayani concluded his speech: “There is no importance or significance in its presence, which costs the government huge sums of money without any significant realistic benefit,” adding that “ending its presence will end the numerous interferences in the internal affairs of the government’s work.”
The official spokesman for the government, Bassem Al-Awadi, had confirmed the current government’s request from the UN Security Council to end the United Nations mission, whose presence the Security Council votes on at the end of the year.
